The Acura MDX is an average mid-size luxury sports utility vehicle from the Honda’s auto division, Acura. The automaker is now planning on launching the 2017 Acura MDX which will come as the third installment to the Acura MDX series. The first generation of the Acura MDX first appeared in 2001 followed by the second generation of it in 2013. To counter the current stiff automobile competition in the market, the new model is expected to come with a lot of changes and modifications in its interior and exterior.
2017 Acura MDX – Exterior and Interior Review
In the 2017 Acura MDX, most of the basic interior features will remain unchanged. The major changes will be on the front and back parts which will include a redesign in the grille and headlamps. The front bumper will be even wider with two new large air intakes. The edges of the model will also be more pointed with an aerodynamic look. Though it will retain its shape, the whole body will come with an aggressive new look with very bold 19-inch alloy wheels to make it look even cooler.
Though much is not known yet about the 2017 MDX interior, it is expected to incorporate a cabin consisting of three seat rows capable of accommodating 7 adult passengers comfortably. The seats will be made of quality leather. The drivers seat will be adjustable and heated. The dashboard also is expected to come in a new design. There will be a larger touchscreen with an upgraded infotainment system and Bluetooth, USB ports and Smartphone integration. Safety features include parking sensors, enhanced airbags and traction control.
2017 Acura MDX – Engine, Performance and Fuel Economy
The 2017 Acura MDX is not expected to come with a lot of changes beneath the hood. However, it will come with a lot of power and economy in fuel. The engine is expected to remain the same as that of its predecessor. It will therefore have a V6 VTEC engine with the fuel capacity of 3.5-litre. This Acura MDX 2017 will, however, offer an output of 290 hp and a maximum of 267 pounds per foot of torque. The engine will be paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission and a 6-speed manual transmission system. The system is designed to send power to either only the front wheels or all the wheels. Talking of fuel economy, the front wheel drive model will offer 20 mpg when in the city and about 28 mpg when on highways with combined drives of 23 mpg. The all-wheel drive of the model will offer 18 mpg within the city limits and alternatively 27 mpg when on the highway with combined drives of 21 mpg. Considering its size, this will be very impressive. The engine is expected to move from 0-60 mph in about 7.5 seconds.
