The German manufacturer is finally bringing us the new 2018 BMW X1. As one of the primary models, this crossover SUV was one of the most sold BMW vehicles. The 2016 model was thoroughly redesigned to achieve a perfect solution for this model’s success. With this in mind, we couldn’t have expected too much of novelty in the 2018’s model. With simple improvements, adoptions in technology and drivetrain, the 2018’s X1 is better than ever, while BMW expects it to sell like never before.
2018 BMW X1 – Luxury Design
The 2018 BMW X1 model won’t bring many exterior changes. The vehicle is a bit bigger than its predecessor. Styling, however, is excellent by the popular opinion. It looks like a smaller version of X3 and X5 which is good news for its prestige. Other than that, there will be several new color options and slightly different details. As one of the smallest crossover SUVs on the market, the X1 offers a rather spacious interior with the best luggage space in competition range.
The comfort and luxury are a standard BMW never cease to deliver, as this time, they went a step further in increasing seat comfort with backseat legroom being especially spacious in comparison to its competitors. The seats feature an incredibly comfortable high-quality leather which presents elegance and luxury.
The 2018 BMW X1 features a center console with all the updated tech and controls. Standard equipment comes with 7 speaker audio system, audio player with USB input and automatic AC. However, in the additional package, the X1 comes with the navigation system, Bluetooth connections, Wifi and LED daytime lights.
Efficient Engine and Performance
The 2018 BMW X1 comes with a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that producing 228 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. The power is delivered through an 8-speed automatic transmission with a shift lever. This time there is an option of front wheel drive model. Not something that we are used to seeing from BMW but certainly something that was wished for a model such as this.
Performance wise, the new model carries on from its predecessor, with similar 6.3 seconds to 60 miles per hour. The front wheel drive model could deviate from these numbers in performance but it should be around that number. The front wheel drive change removes the 50/50 weight balance so it might be a different in overall road performance with its altered grip capabilities, although tests showed very little differences. The transmission isn’t the smoothest BMW can offer, but it will get the job done whenever needed. The 2018 BMW X1 carries forward the excellent fuel economy of the previous model with front wheel model delivering 23/32/26 miles per gallon for city/highway/combined and all-wheel drive 22/31/25 miles per gallon.
Price and Debut Time
The starting price of the 2018 BMW X1 should be 36,000$ but prices are yet to be released precisely towards the release date. The release date is expected at the end of summer 2017. However, recent news suggests that release may be postponed until the end of 2017.
