Ford Escape Release Date, Colors

The 2018 Ford Escape is likely to pack in a long list of improvements over the current generation. Mainly because Ford is in the habit of ushering in a wide range of technological and design changes whenever they launch a new generation model. Ford Escape bridges the gap between the compact EcoSport and the much larger Ford Edge. This is a highly competitive segment and the Escape has to battle it out with industry heavyweights such as the Honda CR-V and the Toyota RAV4. Helping you decide which compact crossover is perfect for you, here’s what we think the 2018 Ford Escape will likely offer.

2018 Ford Escape – Exterior and Interior Design

Slapping on a new chrome grill, headlamps, tail-lamps, and lots of muscular curves, the 2017 Escape looks much more modern and muscular over the previous year’s model. Considering the fact that the 2017 Escape was a major design overhaul, the 2018 Ford Escape will likely feature subtle facelifts and tweaks over this years model. The 2018 Ford Escape will almost definitely feature a set of aggressive dual headlamps and the typical boxy chrome grill featured in all Ford SUVs.

There is a good chance that the newer Escape will come with the standard 17-inch alloys. People who want the larger 19-inch wheels should be able to get it by going for the Sports Appearance Package offered on the Titanium and SE models. Buyers should also get the same colors options they got on the 2017 Escape. We predict that that next year’s Escape will likely feature minor design revisions and be overall in line with Ford’s SUV design language.

One of the things that car manufacturers have been able to achieve is carved out more interior space with every new model. The 2017 model offers better leg and head room compared to the 2016 Escape. It also has cleverer button layout and Ford’s much-loved SYNC system. The 2018 Escape will also likely retain the Enhanced Park Assist feature which allows the vehicle to use its sensors to park itself. Much like the exteriors, we predict subtle design changes and maybe a few add-on features introduced in the 2018 Ford Escape. By scooping out the back of the front seats, the next year’s model may attempt to enhance the rear leg space. Buyers would also be able to go for the panoramic moonroof currently offered in the 2017 model.

2018 Ford Escape – Engine Performance

The current generation Ford Escape gives buyers three engine options, 1.5-liter, 2.0liter, and the thirsty 2.5-liter. The 1.5 liter is a huge hit in the Asian markets and it churns out 179 lb-ft of torque and 170 hp of power. The 2.0-liter Ecoboost engine puts out 245 hp and delivers a healthy torque figure of 275 lb-ft. The naturally aspirated 2.5-liter iVCT base engine option delivers a 168 hp of power and 170 lb-ft of torque.

All of the three engines are paired with Ford’s 6-speed transmission. The 2.5-liter engine delivers a fuel economy of 11.1 liter/100km in the city and 8.1 liter/100km on the highways. The 1.5-liter EcoBoost does not significantly improve upon the fuel economy figures by delivering 10.2 liter/100km on city roads and 7.8 liter/100km on highways. The car manufacturer is likely to offer the same three engine options on the 2018 Ford Escape so there is little chance that the fuel economy is going to improve.

2018 Ford Escape – Release Date and Price

The release date of the 2018 Ford Escape is up for speculations. Considering the major design improvements of the 2017 model, Ford is likely to push back the release of the new Escape. Buyers can expect an official release date by mid-2017.

The approximate MSRP of the Ford Escape 2018 is likely to be around $23,000 to $24,000. Ford will try its best to keep the price low to improve its market presence in the compact crossover segment.
