For some years now, Honda Odyssey has been a popular minivan, offering a perfect blend of great driving dynamics and excellent interior with plenty of space. However, with Kia introducing new Sedona model, Toyota making nice tweaks to Sienna and Chrysler adding a plug-in hybrid variant during the redesign of Town & County minivan, it would be fair to say that Honda needs to take things up a notch. Current generation received a mid-cycle refresh in 2014 and it is expected that the next generation will arrive as 2018 model year. The 2018 Honda Odyssey will come completely refreshed and shall look better than ever.
Platform for 2018 Honda Odyssey
Odyssey has a history of sharing most of its components with Acura MDX crossover, Honda Pilot, and Ridgeline. For the upcoming model also, this will continue to be the case. Recently released spy shots of this vehicle do not reveal much information because it is wearing a thick camouflage.
The most major and obvious of all updates brought to 2018 Honda Odyssey are redesigned taillights and headlights, which appear to be the same as that of present generation Accord model. Modification in design has also been offered to lower front intake, which features changes near fog lights. The basic shape of the model is likely to remain same but it will follow new design language of the company, with completely new front fascia. There are rumors that this model will offer a new wheel design with three different color offerings.
2018 Honda Odyssey – Unique Feature
Inside, you can expect new elements as it has been anticipated that more changes will be made to interior than exterior. As far as safety is concerned, you can expect automatic brakes and air bags with radar sensors. Interior of 2018 Honda Odyssey is going to be extremely spacious and it will be accompanied by high-quality seats and upholstery to provide maximum comfort. While overall layout will remain same as previous iterations, with three rows of seats, this new model will be more spacious and comfortable. Honda will also include certain clever innovations such as built-in vacuum.
2018 Honda Odyssey – Powertrain Specs and Fuel economy
You can expect the Honda Odyssey 2018 to continue with a 3.5-liter V6 engine. This unit is capable of generating 280 hp along with 250 lb-ft of torque. With certain modifications here and there, you can expect a better power output. Just like the previous model, a 6-speed transmission unit will be offered as standard. There are possibilities that a ZF 9 speed transmission unit will also be offered optionally. While fuel economy numbers are not released yet, this upcoming model is expected to offer a comparatively better fuel efficiency than the previous model.
